Andre Norman, President at Second Chance University
At Second Chance University, we’re about more than education—we’re about transformation. I started SCU because I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom and have nowhere to turn. I’ve been through it all—prison, failure, and setbacks that felt impossible to overcome. But I also know this: no one’s story is finished until they decide it is.
SCU is here for anyone who’s ready to rewrite their life, no matter where they’re starting from. We don’t just give you tools; we give you the belief and support you need to truly change.
What You Need To Know
Two-thirds of released prisoners are rearrested within three years of release
After ten years of release, 82% of released prisoners are rearrested, demonstrating the long-term challenges of reducing recidivism
Only 40% of employers are willing to consider hiring individuals with a criminal record, significantly limiting employment opportunities for former prisoners
54% of prisoners about to be released expected to rely on their own jobs for financial support, but only about 50% reported finding their parole officers helpful in securing employment after release
Over 600,000 individuals are released from prison each year. Through SCU, you can pre-screen, pre-train, and pre-interview candidates for jobs at your company before they are released. This proactive approach allows you to secure skilled, motivated employees ready to contribute from day one.
